What this site is
An educational calculator. It compares figures you supply against the federal poverty guidelines and describes the requirements that published federal rules place on nonprofit hospitals.
What it is not
It is not legal, medical, financial or tax advice, and it is not patient advocacy. Nothing here creates a professional relationship of any kind. No result is a determination of your eligibility for anything — only the hospital can make that determination, by processing an application.
Accuracy
Eligibility thresholds are set by individual hospitals and vary widely. Some states impose additional requirements. The poverty guidelines are updated each January and the values built into this tool may lag; they are editable for that reason.
Results depend entirely on the figures you enter. No warranty is given that any result is accurate, complete or applicable to your situation. Verify anything that matters against the hospital's published policy and its financial counsellor.

Fair use
Use the calculator as much as you like, for yourself or alongside someone you are helping. Do not scrape the site at volume, republish it as your own, or present its output as a professional assessment you have carried out.
